Another bad one....

I just remembered a dream I had last night. It was a nightmare actually. It was a collection of several of my worst nightmares. It started off with Eric, Jackson and me in our house. Someone, who I vaguely remember being our next door neighbor who is one of the nicest guys in the world and wouldn't hurt a fly was trying to break into the house and was coming after us. So we were hiding. We called the police, who told us to try to get out of the house, but it was too late, he already had us cornered, so we decided to hide in our upstairs spare bathroom because there are 2 doors. One to get into the sink area, then another to get into the shower/toilet area. That would at least buy us a little more time. Here is where the dream gets a little off course. While we are hiding in the bathroom, I catch a glimpse at my teeth and notice that my two front teeth have a huge gap in them. Anyone who knew me pre-braces knows why this might be a big fear of mine...... Well, I get so caught up in how ugly my teeth are that I stop caring about the bad guy coming to get us. I was SO upset about this gap and every time I looked in the mirror, my teeth got farther and farther apart! Once the gap was big enough to fit a whole other tooth in there, I woke up. Kinda like when you dream you are falling and wake up right before you hit the ground. Okay, all of you dream analysis folks.....have at it!

And, cause I know you are going to ask, I did have a cupcake and milk about an hour before bed.

Randomness

I stole this survey from A Day in the life of the Mrs

1. It's 2AM and you are not home. You are more than likely:

On vacation. I rarely stay "out" that late unless I'm out of town, visiting friends or on vacation. I will stay up that late at home on the weekends though.

2. What's the last thing you spent more than $100 on?

Other than bills? Geeze, I haven't spent that much on one item in a while, but I'm sure it was tshirts or something for Mi Best Boutique.

3. What do your bank checks look like?

Which account? I have, like, 6 bank accounts, but my personal account checks have flowers on them and my home address from our previous house. I haven't bothered to order new ones since we moved. Almost 5 years ago.

4. Where did the shirt you are currently wearing come from?

Target. It's a dark grey "boyfriend" tee.

5. Name something that will be on your Christmas wish list:

I really like those flip cameras. And I'm always open to a housekeeper ;) But, Christmas is a long way away, so who knows?

6. What color is your toothbrush?

blue and white

7. Name something you collect and tell us about it.

It's been a while since I've really collected anything, but I used to collect Swarovski crystals and thimbles from various places I traveled. But that was back in grade school. Right now, I'm trying really hard to NOT collect random shit.

8. Last restaurant you ate at. Who were you with? How was it?

Chuck E Cheese on Friday with Eric, Jackson and my mother in law. I actually like their pizza, so I was happy with it. Chuck E Cheese was the first place I ever worked and I STILL like their pizza.

9. Who was the last person you bought a birthday card for?

My baby boy Jackson.

10. What is your worst bad habit?

Saying yes to things that I don't really want to do.

11. Name a magazine you subscribe to?

I haven't subscribed to any magazines, but we still get them. We get Bon Appetite from my mother in law, a ski magazine that we got free with something and Eric gets some gaming magazine that he got for free too.

12. Your favorite pizza toppings?

pepperoni and mushrooms

13. Whose number were you looking up the last time you used a phone book?

I don't even know where our phone book is. I always use the internet or my phone.

14. Other than family, who is the person that you love most?

Ouch.....the most? I have several friends that mean the world to me, but I can't say that I love one more than the other.

15. What is the last thing you cooked?

Sausage for Jackson's breakfast this morning.

16. Name something you wouldn't want to buy used?

Shoes, a mattress, panties

17. Which shoe do you put on first?

I don't have an order

18. What is the last thing you remember losing?

I lose my keys a lot. And my phone. They always turn up though.

19. What is the ugliest piece of furniture in your house?

Haha! Anyone who has been to our house knows the answer to this. I call it the rock. It's a "coffee table" that is in our home theater. I use that term loosely. It's a giant plaster square that we have painted over many times. It's a chocolate brown laquer now. It weighs about a million pounds and it's huge and ugly, but Eric won't let me get rid of it. Apparently it was bought at a rummage sale, but the original owner paid a TON for it! It's supposed to be art or something?

20. Last thing you bought and ended up returning?

A hat for Jackson from Old Navy. It was super cute, but too small for him :( But I don't usually return things, if I buy something. I want it, that's why I bought it. I return stuff other people buy for me more regularly.

21. What perfume/cologne do you wear? If none, why?

I wear "Unconditional Love". I've been told it smells like strawberries, but I don't think so.

22. Your favorite board game?

I love board games, and card games. I don't really have a favorite.

24. Where did your vehicle come from?

Burt Kuni Honda

25. If a movie was made about your life what would the theme song be?

Lie in our graves, by Dave Matthews Band. I know that sounds super morbid, but it's not about dying, it's about living your life to the fullest while you can.

26. You're sad, who can cheer you up easily?

Jackson. Or Mandi or Nate. They are 2 of the funniest people I know!

27. What was the color of the bridesmaid dresses of the last wedding you went to?

chocolate brown. They were pretty

28. What house cleaning chore do you hate to do the most?

Bathrooms. Gross.

29. What is your favorite way to eat chicken?

I like rotisserie chicken.

30. It is your birthday. You hope the cake is?

A DQ ice cream cake! Or the flourless chocolate cake I make, but that would involve making it, and I don't wanna cook on my birthday. My birthday is on Thanksgiving day this year. I guess I'll be cooking this year :(

Jackson turns 2!

It's been a while since I last blogged. I've been really busy getting everything ready for Jackson's birthday and his party. I have issues with "half doing" things. Like, I can't do it. The theme of his party was basketball, since he loves it so much. I made personalized "Team Jackson" shirts as party favors for all of the kids, which involved me staying up until 2:00 almost every night for 4 nights.

I also made and decorated his cake myself, which lead to a serious case of carpal tunnel in my right wrist. (I don't know how the cake boss does it!)
I served "ball park" food at the party. Hot dogs, soft pretzels, nachos, cotton candy, popcorn, cracker jacks, and, of course, beer. It was exhausting, but SO much fun for him. I would, and will do it again!

Heart vs Brain

"Sometimes the heart should do things without the brain's permission" ~a picture from World Market

So, I watched The Notebook last night. I had never seen that movie or read the book before. I figured that it would be some overly sappy love story, which it was, but I still loved it. It's a story, like many other love stories, where someone is faced with the decision of following their heart or their mind. In the movies, they always choose heart. (Except for Bridges of Madison County.....DAMN YOU MERYL STREEP! She followed her mind, and not her heart and lived a mediocre life of dreaming and wishing she was somewhere else, with someone else. See?) And in the movies it always works out for the better for follow your heart. It got me to thinking though, is it really better to always follow your heart? I've always been a very logical person. I almost always do the logical thing, thinking through all the possibilities and choose the one that makes the most sense in the long run. NOT the choice that makes my heart feel all ooey and gooey. I figure, those ooey gooey feelings will eventually subside, and what are you left with? An illogical choice. I'm not just talking about love. I'm talking about all of those difficult life decisions. I prefer to live in reality, and not a fairy tale land of "happily ever after". I wonder though, what if I did live in my heart all the time? Are people truly happier making their decisions with their heart? Tell me what you think......

Try to keep up

I don't really have anything to blog about tonight, so I guess I'll just type the random thoughts I have swirling around in my head tonight. They truly are random, so try to keep up.
I think I'll go get some ice cream. Should I get mocha almond fudge or an ice cream sandwich? I already had one ice cream sandwich today, so I think I'll go with mocha. I really should lay off the ice cream. I'm starting to gain weight again. Well, not so much pounds, but I'm getting a little squishier in the middle. That might have something to do with all of the beer I've been drinking lately. I've had at least one or two a night the last several weeks. Partly because of the weather, partly because of stress, and partly because of the fact that we aren't not trying to get pregnant, and I know once I get pregnant, no beer for 9 months. I really mean it when I say we are just not preventing getting pregnant. I have no idea when I'm ovulating or anything like that, but I do know one thing....you have to have sex to get pregnant. And I'm pretty sure that sometime around this time of the month is a good time, but Eric went on a long bike ride yesterday and threw out his back. Hurt backs don't make for good baby making. Maybe next month. It's really June 1st already? That's great! I love summer! I can't believe my baby will be 2 years old in 2 weeks. That's crazy. He's such a little man already, yet still such a baby. This fat family on TLC is cracking me up! There's a giant pink tutu on my counter in the basement. It's so big, I kinda feel like it's it's own living thing. I'm pretty sure it's staring at me. I don't have to watch Christopher tomorrow. Yay for a day off. Boo for not making money tomorrow. Jackson and I are going on a picnic at the park with a neighbor and her daughter. That should be fun. I wonder what I should pack. PB&J I guess. That won't spoil in the hot weather. MMMMMM.....food. God, I really want some ice cream. Awww crap. If I go upstairs, I'll be reminded that I still haven't done the dishes tonight. Oh wait! I don't have Christopher tomorrow. I really could let it go until the morning if I want. Okay, I feel better now. Now the fat family is camping. I want to go camping. Last time we tried to go camping we made it to about 3:00 a.m. then it was freezing, Jackson woke up, we left all of our camping stuff there and drove home. Maybe we'll plan around the weather next time. It's not like it's always cold here in Colorado. Everyone thinks it is. It's in the 80's and 90's now, but most people who have never been here think that it's "mountains" and therefore always cold, like in the Coors commercials. Denver isn't in the mountains, in case you were unaware. And it gets hot here......Ice cream would really cool me off right now. I gave Jackson a haircut today. Rather successfully, I think. He doesn't look like a complete tool or like his mama cut his hair for him. We'll see what it looks like in the morning though. I gave him a blue and red popsicle to eat while I cut his hair. That worked well, except that it stained his skin where it dripped. But at least his hair doesn't look like a homeless baby's hair anymore. We are having a garage sale this weekend. I really should be collecting random shit around the house now, instead of blogging. But blogging involves sitting, and collecting shit involves moving. Sitting trumps moving tonight. Maybe some ice cream would help motivate me to collect shit. Yeah, ice cream for sure. I'm gonna go get some now.
